From anime website
design to Para Para dance craze, Otakon 2002 held a huge round of panels and discussions that
had something for everyone to learn more about and enjoy. Panels were staged across 3
rooms and easily provided seating space for large capacity crowds of fans yearning to catch
more than just a fleeting glimpse of that favorite Guest of Honor. |

Otakon 2002 Guests of Honor focus panels: Fans of any current anime or manga
rejoiced as many got a more closer look at and had questions answered by their Japanese
celebrity favorites including: Takehiko Ito, Yasuhiro Nightow, Masao Maruyama, Yutaka Minowa, Hiroyuki Morioka, Yoko Ishida, and Tatsuo Sato. |
Costuming: Presentation is the key for outstanding cosplaying, both hall and
otherwise. Representatives were on hand to discuss topics including stage skits,
makeup, stage lighting, theater setups, facial appearances, use of color contacts, fabrics,
headdresses, and finding the right shopping resources. |

Entertainment: Representative
from Pioneer Entertainment talked about the latest releases including CDs, action figures,
DVD sets, everything that is Tenchi Muyou, new budgets and contracts, and ways they are
adding more value to the DVD releases to please the growing fanbase. |
Digital Fansubbing
Demonstration: Fansubbing
representatives showed the audience a demonstration on building a fansub from scratch using
various techniques and applications. Topics also covered timing, video and audio
sequencing, scripts, file-sharing, output formats, and where to get online help. |
