From anime website design to Para Para dance craze, Otakon 2002 held a huge round of panels and discussions that had something for everyone to learn more about and enjoy.  Panels were staged across 3 rooms and easily provided seating space for large capacity crowds of fans yearning to catch more than just a fleeting glimpse of that favorite Guest of Honor.

Japanese Attire: Representatives on traditional Japanese fashion taught the audience on proper techniques and care of the prized attire.  Topics covered various kimono designs, prices, factories, museums, artist communities, gold leaf prints, hand embroideries, and a demonstration of how to put on a kimono.
Fan-ily Feud: Groups of fans battled it out on stage with brains and quick wits as this trivia game included numerous questions on favorite anime including Project A-ko, Cowboy Bebop, Legend of Galactic Heroes, Gundam Wing, Macross, Outlaw Star, Nadesico, Dragonball Z, Princess Mononoke, Love Hina, and much more.


Bad Anime! Bad!: Not just bad... REALLY bad!  Screenings and discussions in this humorous panel included cheesy robots, goofy battle attacks, bumbling villains, bad science, too much complex terminology, and cheesy wrestling moves.
Drawing Anime and Manga: Learning to draw and keeping up with development is not easy, but this panel effectively taught the audience on going through the motions on character designs, making comics, printing, saving old works, archiving sketchbooks for ideas, and networking with other fan artists.


Tokyo-Pop: Representatives TokyoPop announced their latest releases and plans for GTO, Sailor Moon, GoldenBoy, Parasite, Angelic Layer, and much more.  Highlights also included a trivia contest with free prizes.
Mecha-cessorsizing: Kings and Queens of American cosplay talked about their latest ambitious projects and also tips and processes on making swords, large bodysuits, light armor, foam texturing, painting, dremel tools, paper mache, and other craftsmanship necessities.
