Karaoke
For those who just couldn't put themselves to bed late Saturday night after the Masquerade and didn't want to be stuck watching a television screen, the Karaoke event was available for those willing to stretch their vocal chords out and perform for their fellow attendees. Perennial favorites like "Konya wa Hurricane" (from BUBBLEGUM CRISIS) were pounded out while recent additions, like "Cruel Angel's Thesis" (the opening to NEON GENESIS EVANGELION) were also part of the collective wailing—er singing. An impromptu appearance and subsequent performance by Guest of Honor Akira Kamiya, however, added that special touch that will make this year's Karaoke event unforgettable to all who were there.

Exhibit Hall
Spend! Spend! Spend! Filled with everything from LD box sets to little trinkets like key chains, the Dealer rooms and the participating dealers from across the country provided AX '97 attendees with the opportunity to pick up everything anime-related that their heart desired. This year, due to the large amount of dealers requesting tables, the dealer's room had to be expanded to include additional space.
Top: shop 'til you drop! Bottom: the dealers had plenty of merchandise to sell to eager shoppers.
Fortunes were made (by the dealers) and lost (by the attendees) as fans turned out their wallets for prized items.
