Dragon*Con 2004
Panels and Discussions 2

Writers Track: How Not to Be Published: The best writers always start out small and slowly build their way upwards, like a classic tale of exploration and adventure.  But mistakes can be made and veteran writers talked about keeping a wary eye on the dos and don'ts in the small press world.  Topics included avoiding multiple submissions, never writing sequels for unpublished works, never writing in pre-existing universes someone else created, and much more.

The Magical Power of Language: It takes a certain amount of learned sophistication to truly grasp the hardcore fantasy readers and get them to keep buying your novels.  Veteran writers in the fantasy world talked about use of metaphors, applying grace and style to the sentences and overall story, dealing with crafting difficult plots and subject matters, keeping an eye on character effects, good use of humor where it makes sense, and additional uses of literary style to give your story a little more credence for the fiction fans.

Farscape: Packed to the walls, this amazing panel included the major actors talking about their daily life on the sets and answering numerous questions from the fans.  Topics included make-up effects, various suits and uniforms, prosthetics, behind the scenes stories, news on the Peacekeeper Wars, creating alien body languages, best works improvising many scenes, and more.

Garrett Wang: Voyager's Harry Kim: From ensign to popular bridge officer, he's one of your favorite actors of the Star Trek universe!  Garrett Wang talked about his Trek work including providing background on his theatrical work, growing up in Tennessee, first celeb/fan experiences at Creation Con, interacting with all the Trek fans, and much more.

Stargate SG-1 Debriefing: It's just another day in the government cover-up to alien artifacts in the Stargate SG-1 universe.  Producers and writers of this highly popular sci-fi series talked about the latest developments and episode updates for the hardcore fans.

Meet the 501st: The 501st Legion of Star Wars veterans talked about their latest costuming developments and plans including future con gatherings, parties, recruitment processes, C3 Celebration festivities, storm trooper parades, focusing on Episode III, and providing personnel support where needed with the fellow Rebel Alliance fan groups.
