Panels and Discussions 3

Props 101: Have a costume but no prop?  Many a cosplayer can sew like crazy, but when it comes to props, it's no go.  Experienced props worksman was on hand to talk about making your own con-secure fake swords, staffs, and guns using resin kits, molds, latex rubber, and other forms of advanced materials for the cosplayer who only wants the best.

How are Anime Cons Different?: Ask any staffer or any convention about how things are going and they'll rattle off about successes and problems.  But anime cons are a special breed with special problems, those including masquerade tech setups, panels, cosplayers, staff and volunteers recruitments, budget controls, and everything under the sun that make an anime con... well, an anime con!

Game Shows: Think you got what it takes to be an anime survivor?  Well, that's not good enough, 'cause you know you gotta be a success!  Game shows that tackled your anime trivia brought in the contestants to the stage and the envious crowds all weekend to the Anime Name that Tune, Anime Improv, Battle Survival Challenge, and more.

Adaptation of Manga vs. Anime: There is never a perfect adaptation of any manga to an anime simply because of the vast cultural and language needs from print to viewing entertainment.  Panelists were on hand to discuss those differences, the symbolisms, character development styles, and more with examples from Ah! My goddess, Mars, Blood the Last vampire, and more.

Additional panels and discussions held throughout the busy Anime North weekend included: Yaoi Meltdown, Dealing with Writers Block, When Bad Things Happen to Good Anime, Everything Old is Anime Again, Shoujo Manga, Transformers, Studio Ghibli, Web Comics, Trends in J-Rock, J-Rock / J-Popo Cosplay Contest, Voiceovers, Tofu Records, Voice Acting Contest, Hikaru no Go, Hints and Tips for Making AMVs, Ranma Reverie, Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon, Collecting Anime Goods, Jem Project, Dir en Grey, Photographing Cosplay, Curse of the Fanboys, Model Show Awards, Bishounen Appreciation, Anime Crash, Underappreciated Characters, Xenogears, Moon Mars or Bust, Imperialis m101, Romantic Comedy: Overused or Classic?, Return of Jem, and more.
