The
most popular parts of the anime convention scene are the panels and
discussion groups that speak out for unique interests pertaining to the
hobbyist in all of us. This year at Sakura-con, numerous panels
packed in the crowds to listen in and emphasize on the exploration of
Japanese culture and growth of fandom in the anime community. In
this section of the convention environment, we'll show you some of the

Copic Marker Workshop:
Attendees got a chance to learn and review important
techniques on color theory, marker selection, gradients, and working with
different shades. |
CosWorx Makeup Effects:
Not just your average blush and mascara.
Panelist Yaya Han was on hand to do a little show and tell about custom
make-up effects for the more adventurous cosplayers. |
Tony Oliver:
This talented voice actor talked about his voice
history with Robotech series, Argento Soma, Chobits, Marmalade Boy,
Mahoromatic, Ah! My Goddess The Movie, and X, as well as gave advice about
voice acting auditions and careers. |
CosWorx Costume Construction:
Experienced cosplayers and panelists Tristen Citrine
and Ziggy talked about advanced costume construction for more complex
designs, where to buy good cosplay accessories or design your own, and
detailed advice on costume traveling and care. |
Kendo Demonstration:
Tradition meets the modern world as trained
panelists gave attendees a unique interactive seminar on this exquisite
martial arts. |
Tea Ceremony:
For the more quiet and elegant environment, the
traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony gave attendees a unique inside look upon
the delicate details of enjoying herbal essence. |
Advanced Wigcraft Techniques: Wig
expert Katie Bair was on hand to show cosplayers how to formulate their
own very polished and stylish wigs from basic ones. |
Mechanized Propulsion Systems: Team
members from this aspiring mecha group gave another seminar detailing
their new campus facilities, metallurgy test results, advanced power
systems, and prototype construction for a 1:1 robot framework. |
