Big or small, all anime
conventions involve a huge volunteer effort to acquire a host hotel and convention center,
allocate rooms, schedule panels, get dealers, get Guests of Honor, get sponsors, get technical
equipment, do practice runs, get the word out on the upcoming convention for the locals and on
the web, and most especially stay clear and focused on driving the fan spirit to an ultimate
high for the weekend! Whew! So much work and Sakura Con 2004 showed tremendous
success with another record-breaking attendance number: nearly 4,500 at Saturday closing, far
above last year's of 3000+ due in part to the excellent roundup of Guests of Honor, rise in
cosplay, great video gaming rooms, a larger dealers hall, tons of fan entertainment, and much
more! Great job! |
