Big or small, all anime
conventions involve a huge volunteer effort to acquire a host hotel and convention center,
allocate rooms, schedule panels, get dealers, get Guests of Honor, get sponsors, get technical
equipment, do practice runs, get the word out on the upcoming convention for the locals and on
the web, and most especially stay clear and focused on driving the fan spirit to an ultimate
high for the weekend! Whew! So much work and Sakura Con 2003 showed tremendous
success with another record-breaking attendance number: 2,800+ at Saturday closing, far above
last year's of 2,179, bringing in a total of over 3000+ at the weekend's closing. Great
