LLNN Coverage of Comic-Con International 2004

Comic-Con International 2004 was once again host for numerous opportunities for comics veterans and budding artists to get together and get down to business in sunny San Diego. With a special highlight of the 10th Anniversary of the passing away of comics legend Jack Kirby, numerous authors and comics professionals provided themed artwork in the big artists book supplied to all attendees. Themed artwork included 50th Anniversary of Godzilla, 75th Anniversaries of Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, Tarzan, and Popeye, 20th Anniversary of Usagi Yojimbo, 40th Anniversary of Creepy, 10th Anniversary of Supernatural Law, 10th Anniversary of Hellboy, 25th Anniversary of Flaming Carrot, and of course, the 35th Anniversary of Comic-Con International. Portfolio reviews by professional comic artists and industry publishers collected in the huge Autograph Area, renaissance era tournaments entertained the attendees on the upper deck, occasional advertising by bizarre costumers for the latest in comics and cinema screenings were on the rise, and of course, there is always the casual San Diegan that provides a little musical flavor to the convention experience.

Under the cool bigtop tent, thousands of attendees gathered to collect their cool autographs and get their artwork looked at by industry professionals.
