Otakon 2010!

Welcome to another edition of Linus Lam Network News for 2010!  This news report covers our trip to Otakon 2010 for a huge weekend of anime and manga enjoyment and a whole lot more!  Held at the Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore, Maryland over the weekend of July 29th - August 1st, Otakon 2010 saw lots of attendees ready to party on with a bunch of dedicated artists, live performances, gaming events, cosplay fun, and plenty of opportunities to hang out with fellow anime and manga fans. Our exciting trip to Otakon 2010 starts here!  Coverage you can count on, here at Linus Lam Network News!

Highlights: Various live programming events kept the attendees well-covered throughout the weekend. Guests of Honor included Masao Maruyama, Hiroshi Koujina, Yuji Mitsuya, Takamasa Sakurai, h.Naoto, Michael Sinterniklaas, Stephanie Sheh, Peter S. Beagle, kanon, Amy Howard Wilson, Christopher Bevins, Jerry Jewell, Hiroaki Yura, Hiroki Kikuta, Shihori, Scott Freeman, Felipe Smith, Patrick Seitz, Vic Mignogna. J. Michael Tatum, Maile Flanagan, Clarine Harp, Todd Haberkorn, The Yoshida Brothers, Home Made Kazoku, and Yoshiki Sugizo.  Big events included Iron Artist, Ultimate Lolita Fashion Show, Otakon Game Show, h.Naoto Fashion Show, Iron Editor, Otaku Idol, Masquerade, Anime Music Video Contest, and Karaoke.  Panels and Workshops included Anime History, Beyond Fanfiction, Subs for Newbs, Creating Comics, Anime translations, Video Game Anime, Japanese Mahjong, Street Styles, Sega Saturn Games, Video Game Music Evolution, Anime Journalism, Host Club Culture, Asian Cinema, JPop for Dummies, Giant Monsters, Bad J-Music Videos, Calligraphy Basics, Gaijin Girl, Anime Academia, Pdcasting Fandom, Name That Tune, Become a Samurai, Super Sentai 101, Anime Culture, Years of Gainax, Cosplay Culture, Japanese Tea, Budget Cosplay, Learn to Play Go, Gaia Online, Fanthropolgy, Gundam Beyond 30, Japanese Folklore, Dubs Time Forgot, Closet Otaku, Ball Jointed Dolls, Anime Parliament, Toy Collecting, World of Miyazaki, Anime Musicals, and much more.
Cosplay: This year's trip to Otakon saw lots of inspired costumes from numerous anime and manga characters and more! Chart-topping displays for this year included characters from Hetalia, Final Fantasy XIII, Black Butler, Umineko, Bleach, Pokemon, Soul Eater Gurran Lagaan, K-Yon, Vocaloid, and much more!
