Otakon
is not complete without the huge wealth of activities set up for the
weekend otaku. Features for this year included the Otaklause
Challenge, Anime Music Video Iron Editor Challenge, Otaku Idol, trivia
game shows, Karaoke contests and open mic sessions, Manga reading room for
the quiet side of convention life, fan musicians playing in the halls all
weekend, Ota-chan for the lil' Otakus in training, LARP Room for the wild
and crazy fans who like a little interactive role playing to go along with
their imaginations, Art Shows, Art Auctions, Modeling Contests, 35mm Film
Room, interactive panels and workshops, plenty of video screening rooms,
and much more. Oh, but let's not foget the big Guests of Honor for
this year! Guests included: Hirotsugu Kawasaki (Spriggan director),
Masao Maruyama (Chobits producer), Kazuto Nakazawa (Samurai Champloo
character designer), Nobuteru Yuuki (Record of Lodoss War character
designer), Kouta Hirano (Hellsing creator), Makoto Tateno (Yellow
creator), musician Nana Kitade, musicians MUCC, musician Yoshiki, voice
actress Ayako Kawasaki, voice actress Christine Auten, voice actress
Caitlin Glass, voice actress Kate Higgins, voice actor Yuri Lowenthal,
