From Illuminati to Digerati, panels and discussions always bring out the best of anime and manga education.  Here at Nan Desu Kan 2002, LLNN managed to scope what excellent panels were being held and gives a short description of what was covered.

MegaTokyo and Beyond: Rodney Caston, formerly known as "Largo" from the hit web comic MegaTokyo, has ventured on to greater pastures as he delves into new ventures and projects.  He currently involves himself with writing PC Magazine articles and feels a bit refreshed from the daily routines of 3 years of MegaTokyo.  He admitted to being a bit burned out, suffering from writer's block, but still maintains an online influence and great friendship with artist Fred "Piro" Gallagher.

Crispan Freeman's Hero in Anime: Crispan Freeman led an inspiring discussion on heroes in anime and what makes a true hero.  Like Huckleberry Finn, heroes have a conscious about what is right and involve themselves in worldly ways they don't often realize, building roads and changing minds for the better.  Topic also included dependency vs. independency, courage, strength, and rules of character and how it all works into producing the characters we all love in anime.
Minimal Japanese Language: Japanese is by far one of the most difficult languages to learn, but an instructor was on hand to lend a helping hand on getting a foothold into just-enough to start with.  Subjects included body language, anime and manga clichés, sound effects, colloquial phrases like greetings and jokes, called shots, martial arts actions, and explanation on cultural differences.
State of the Industry: The Big Guys of the anime industry in America gave a detailed discussion on where anime is going and why it won't go away anytime soon.  While you can't beat the fact that anime comes out in Japan first, America still draws a load of sales from more dubs vs. subs, increased popularity in American voice actors, making headway in the mainstream markets, and even having production influence on new anime since it will eventually find its way into the American market.

Anime Clubs Summit: Leaders from clubs around the nation gathered for a round of talks about shopping trips, community efforts to expand anime influence, holding video screenings, taking care of budgets and club members, staying true to club constitutions, handling growth, going to cons, and dealing with interests of old members and newbies.
Name That Bishounen Game Show: Contestants had a hand at winning prizes and reaping hoots and applause from their friends as they answered trivia questions on all the sexy men from Fushigi Yuugi, Ayashi no Ceres, Rurouni Kenshin, Inuyasha, Angel Sanctuary, Dir En Gray, Tokyo Underground, Malice Mizer, Earthian, Wish, Bakaretsu Hunters, RG Veda, and much more!
