From cosplay to Japanese arts, MTAC Pi had something for everyone and this year's panels and discussions proved that with a chock full 'o rooms scheduled to keep that anime convention weekend filled up to the brim.

How Not to Run an Anime Club: Difficulties with growing anime clubs and diversifying cultures are always a challenge to overcome.  Topics for this panel included opening doors to other interests, drawing, video games, conventions, cosplaying, shopping trips, college clubs, and much more.


Drawing Workshop with Robert Dejesus: Dejesus the hard working Guest artist showed attendees a detailed workshop on topics such as guidelines, sketching techniques, shapes, brainstorming characters, use of lightboxes, choices of inks, and working with multiple characters in a frame.
Fundamentals of Design for Animation: Guest of Honor Scott Frazier of Trimedia East gave a detailed seminar on the basics of anime production including character development, costuming props, rules for body mechanics, skeletal and muscular features, and much more.
Translating Anime: Guest of Honor Taka Karahashi of Viz Communications talked about his experiences with translating various anime and manga for the interested fans.  Topics included editing and writing scripts, relationships with companies, being cost-efficient versus quality translation, and much more.


"I Think I Want to be an Actor!": Rozie Curtis gave an excellent voice acting workshop for the aspiring fans who yearned to be behind the microphone and really known how hard it is to act and keep to the script.  Discussion included topics on voice skills, production times, studio work, voice training, theater background, and taking care of one's voice.


Beginning Japanese: Japanese is one of the hardest languages to learn, but the difficulties can be overcome with this beginner's course.  Highlights included easy lessons through elementary pronunciations with numbers and simple words.  Lesson details involved phonetics, vowels, accents, animal sounds, and much more.
Additional Panels held throughout the weekend also included: Running Anime Websites, MTAC Mailing List and Message Board, Karate Demonstration, "Fans and Freaks" Fandom Documentary by Stephen and Suzie Lackey, Anime Cel Collecting, Yaoi: It's All About the Boyz, Making of a Fandom Documentary, and Introduction to Drawing Workshop.
Sherry Lynn Unplugged: Not one to be shy, Sherry Lynn's voice behind Skuld in Ah! My Goddess the Movie and Sasami and Kiyone in Tenchi Muyou garnered much interest from the fans.  Topics from her unplugged panel included favorite anime, experiences in voice acting classes, voice workshops, and doing various commericals.
