Kawaii-kon 2005
Main Events

Ceremonies and Karaoke Celebration: For many years the mainland enjoyed a healthy dose of
anime convention and Japan has plenty of them as well.  But Hawaiians, especially those who could not afford
to travel across the ocean have indeed longed to attain the status of the elite conventioneering groups.
This report is proof of their commitment and determination to work hard to expand into the untapped fandom
living on the islands.  From cosplay to karaoke, Kawaii-kon 2005 paid special attention to the core pieces of
an anime con and brought in over 1900 attendees from England, Okinawa, Australia and Japan.  Special Guests
of Honor for the inaugural Kawaii-kon 2005 included S. Kai Bovaird (Cause & F(X) Pictures), Robert DeJesus
(artist, writer), Kaveh Kardan (Manager of Software Research and Development at Square USA), David Williams
(ADR Director for ADV Films), and very talented voice actors Monica Rial, Jennifer Sekiguchi, and Mike Sinterniklaas.

Kawaii-kon 2005 Cosplay Contest was a big success this year with tons of costumes and lots of awards
to give out to the cosplayers that showed up in the halls and performed skits on stage for the audience.
