Panels and Workshops 5

Sailor Moon TV with Fred Ladd: Considered the grandfather of anime in North America, Fred Ladd spoke about his involvement in production history concerning bringing tons of great anime to the United States and Canada through television deals and agreements.  From shows like Astroboy to Sailor Moon, Fred has had to jump through many hoops to get these amazing shows aired on national television and when it came to cutting scenes out to comply with family groups and broadcast industry restrictions (air/no-air), tough choices and compromises had to be made.  Eventually, despite all the cultural differences, commercial times, and licensing agreements that takes forever to handle, Sailor Moon saw the light of day and the following rush of fandom is what makes him happy.  Fans were also treated to a special pilot episode from the series that started the Sailor Moon phenomenon.
(above and below) Building Your Cosplay Group: Representatives from Fushigi Yuugi cosplay, Seiya Kou, Golden Quartz, and Sailor JAMboree gave their insight on how spirited cosplay individuals got together and became organized cosplay groups attending various anime conventions around the United States and Canada. Challenges faced by all groups included geographical differences, travel and cosplay expenses, stressing out before conventions, personality clashes, and basically everything that a typical cosplay club would go through until a solid group is formed and things are set in motion. Many of the speakers in the panel are also members of the large photographic cosplay registry, American Cosplay Paradise. Below are some of the members of American Cosplay Paradise that made it to Anime North.
