Mixing social commentary with interactive workshops, the discussion panels were the best place to learn about a new realm of hot topics within the anime and manga marketplace and industry.  For many fans, it was a time to reflect and explore the growth and diversity of the local anime community and see how involved everyone really was for this year.  Much applause goes out to all the panelists, moderators, and participating fans who breathed spirit and life into the panels.

Wally Burr's Hollywood: The arduous task of directing voice actors in voice studio is not as easy as just saying "do your thing".  To Wally, auditions and constant practicing are just as much a show of commitment as the long hours of retakes during the actual recording sessions.  Topics covered casting choices, studio work history in direction and production, and more.

Blogging for Anime: Panelists joined up to talk about anything under the sun in the anime world.  Impromptu fun included eBay travels, discussion about pirated anime and manga goods, LiveJournal readings, good vs. bad ninjas, the evil color pink, and the bad habit of speaking 1337.

Live Audience Dub Session: Wally Burr, Tadao Tomomatsu, Shawn Crosby, and selected members of the audience gathered up to do a real enactment of a typical voice recording session to Transformers the Movie, complete with Wally's attention to perfection and voice projection direction.   Topics also covered keeping pace with the movie, editing dialogue, having scenes explained, and more.

Recreating Your Favorite Characters a Costumes: Seasoned veterans in the cosplay and costuming community talked about fabricating anime costumes from scratch and making sure it stays comfortable and fashionable.  Topics included sewing tips, adding fairy wings, attention to details, relative accuracy to the character depending on one's tastes or abilities, and finding fabrics through the best stores.

Robotech: Harmony Gold: Robotech fans rejoice!  Voice actors for both Scott Bernard and Yellow Dancer attended the panel to talk about their latest projects and give a few stories about the work behind the scenes during the making of Robotech.  Topics included constant script editing, character development, voice coordination, and numerous writing challenges in a time when an animated drama/sci-fi saga concept on televsion wasn't fully realized.

Basic Kimono Workshop: For fans who want more traditional art in their convention weekend, participants in this workshop could come and learn how to make their own kimonos.  Techniques involved proper measurements, choosing the right fabric for the season, cutting and sewing together the fabrics, fitting sessions, and proper storage for the long term wardrobe.

How to Create and Maintain Your Own Anime Club: Seasoned officers of local anime clubs got together to discuss the latest news about their clubs.  Discussion involved club constitutions, membership fees, permission to show screenings, acquiring rare videos, mainstream vs. cult favorites for the hardcore fans, and going on group shopping sprees or anime convention roadtrips.

Manga Art Design: Jerry Koudelik, Caroline Curtis, and Dori Belmont talked about their latest works as well as gave helpful pointers to aspiring artists.  Topics included creating a solid believable story, designing plot elements, dealing with copyright issues, listening to fan forums, getting involved in webcomics, and listening to fan criticisms.
