The RPG and card gaming
rooms were absolutely packed at Project A-Kon 13 with Battletech gurus and card players ready
to duke it out on the table all weekend. Battletech players had a wide range of mecha scenarios to choose from: "Ryuken the Dragon Fist" (defend your world the Periphery at all costs!), "Let's Play With Bugs!" (Task Force Serpent vs. Clan Smoke Jagaur), "Defiance!" (Lyrans vs. the Falcons), "Die, Martin Dye" (lone Mercenaries vs. the dreaded Martin Dye Star), "Firebase" (defend the base at all costs!), "Garden Party III: The Treachery Attacker" (Mercanaries have a contract from Draconis Combine to liberate the world of Thanos VII from Clan Ghost Bear), "Defender" (surprise attack on the old Mercs who've just captured Thanos VII), "3025 Slugfest" (Battletech, old school: no pulse lasers, no gauss rifles, no XL engines...), "Upon the Catwalk" (Last Mech Standing Tournament). Anime LARP players had a number of scenarios to choose from with games sponsored by LIFE (Live Interactional Fictional Entertainment): "Friday Night: From the Ashes" (Camarilla vs. Sabbat), "Palla Grande de Dallas" (Sabbat has their revenge!), and "Crossroads" (be an elf, dwarf, or human for a day and battle it out with ogres, trolls, and other nasty creatures). Japanimayhem time for the Role Playing Game adventure card players, hosted by Steve Grape of #14 Productions: "Majoko" (witchgirls! witchgirls everywhere!), "Majoko: Coventry School for Girls" (players must clear their name upon finding out about a stolen artifact), "Nemesis: A Perfect World" (what would you do if you woke up with super powers?), "Nemesis: A Perfect World Syphon's Seven" (surprise match only Kendrick Jackson could think up!), "Pandora's Box" (rescue a captured player scenario), "Orb of the Undead" (25mm miniatures in a multiplayer Magic deck experience) Dragon Ball Z Card Game Regional Championship Tournament: Dragon Ball Z Tuff Enuff Tournament (it's Survival of the fittest in this wild card playing room with lotsa prizes) Classic RPG: "Judge's Guild Tournament" (save the kingdom scenario), "Peacemaker: Mythworld" (rescue the groom of a Romeo and Juliet romance and save the world!) |
