Anime Expo 2002 is a tireless effort to celebrate all that is glorious in the land of anime and manga and the events were by no means stretched thin or held back. This year AX went all out to give the fans nearly everything they could possibly want and more. The menu included seiyuu concerts, dinner gatherings, huge presentation theaters, classy industry awards, and a whole bunch of fan-friendly Guests of Honor to party through the weekend.

Yoko Ishida Concert: No doubt AX2002 held one of the biggest anime concerts ever to grace the stage with Yoko Ishida and her Para Para dance troupe to bring forth dance excitement to the American fandom.


Yoko Ishida receives tremendous applause from all her fans at the packed Para Para Max and anime song concert.


Industry Reception: For the top brass of who's who in the hall of work work and more work, the Industry Reception was the place for executive in the anime companies to talk business deals and do first contact in a real trade convention setting.


Meet the Guests Reception: Fans got their dream chance to dine with the Gods and Goddesses of the anime world.  Lots of attendees showed up to crowd around the roundtables to catch a glimpse or chit-chat with their favorite Guest of Honor.  Among the Guests: Maria Kawamura (Seiyuu), Hidenori Matsubara (Animation Director and Character Designer), Hiroaki Goda (Director), Toshiharu Murata (Director, Mecha Designer, Animation Character Designer), Nobuhiro Watsuki (Manga Artist), Koichi Mashimo (Director), Hideyuki Kurata (Creator and Writer), Masashi Ishihama (Character and Mecha Designer), and Koji Masunari (Director and Storyboards).


Closing Ceremonies is always sweet sorrow for the masses who've just gotten used to a total anime and manga vacation paradise...
Read or Die!  But who better to end it off with a high note than one of the illustrious Read or Die Guests!  As the last eye is filled in on the daruma, so ends another great year for AX!
