Doujinshis and cels and model kits, Anime Weekend Atlanta 8 had it all under once roof and attendees were able to spend some time with their favorite Guests of Honor and see how real work gets done!

Anime Weekend Atlanta 8
Workshops

Drawing Doujinshi Workshop: Robert Dejesus led a productive session of talented fan artists to grab a chair, table space, and set to work on drawing up some art panels to make little doujinshis for all the see and share.  Tools for the job involved simple pens and pencils, art boards and rulers, and a whole lot of imagination.

Model Kit Workshop:  Fans of both mecha and figurines found an area to relax and build and paint some cool kits.  From garage kit to polystyrene forms, mechas included Gundam and Escaflowne and figurines came from all walks of anime life from owners' own collections.
Cel Painting Workshop: Steve Bennett, the man of many talents, led an instructor's review on the care and art of cels, and then proceeded to show how to properly paint a cel with brushing techniques and water skills.  Afterwards, attendees could purchase for a small fee some cels, paint, and get some free space to spend some free time on appreciation for this traditional lost art form that may soon see the end of its day with newer digital animation technologies.  For anyone who likes to collect cels or loves to delve deeper into the production of anime, this is definitely the workshop to get involved.
